This is a heavy tool made on special order for chopping in the wintertime in Norway. The blade is 10 inches long (25 cm) and over ¼ inch thick. The handle is black canvas micarta with titanium tubing. The sub hilt was added to ensure a strong grip and give some variability on the hold. It can either be between the middle finger and the ring finger, or between the index finger and the middle finger to get more leverage.
Leuku
Leuku’s are much used in Norway and are often preferred over more exotic camp knives. This is due to the traditional appearance and usefulness. My version use a modern construction and improved materials, but it has a traditional shape and size. The ones shown here have green canvas micarta handles with titanium tubing and blade of 5 mm thick A8-mod. The blade is V-ground with a convex secondary bevel.
