Gerber just unveiled a their brand new Fixed Blade Bear Grylls Gerber knife. This kit includes a sheath, fire stick, micro lanyard whistle, waterproof survival guide and blade sharpener. The new Bear Grylls knife was available for pre-order in early November 2010 and despite some major flaws in the pre-released version. The newly released Bear Grylls Gerber knife has solved all of the previous problems and is something that I am sure Bear is Proud to put his name on.

I  have been a really big fan of Bear Grylls Clothing and have noticed that when Bear Grylls puts his name on something you are sure to get serious quality.

The Bear Grylls Gerber Knife is a full tang blade that has three lanyard holes so that it can be easily fixed to a spear in a survival situation. The drop point blade measures in at 4.75 inches. It has an exposed steel butt cap for hammering, and has a survival whistle that is attached to the lanyard. The handle on the new Gerber Bear Grylls Survival series knife is well thought out and made from a non-slip material so it has great grip even when it is wet. The blade is stainless steel and is partially serrated for cutting through tough ropes and fibers.

The sheath of the Bear Grylls Gerber Knife is also really slick looking. It has a similar design to the standard Gerber sheaths, which I think that Gerber does really well. It is designed to either use with a belt or it has a clip to attach to your pants without the need for a belt. On the bottom of the sheath towards the blade tip there is a fire stick, also called a metal match. This is a really nice feature. I don't go anywhere in the wild without a metal match. They take a  bit of practice but it is well worth getting to know this tool as they last for a long time can get soaking wet and still produce a spark.

The Price of the Bear Grylls Knife is set at 49.99 in the USA and Amazon will be the major dealer.
